Mr. Manan Kumar Mishra is a disgrace to BCI, he must resign.
Mr. Manan Kumar Mishra is a disgrace not only to the Bar Council of India as its Chairman, but to the BJP also, as a Rajya Sabha MP. He belongs to the league of Chief Justice Gogoi, who presided over a so-called PIL, “Re: In the Matter of Great Public Importance Touching Upon the Independence of the Judiciary,” to declare himself innocent of the sexual harassment allegations against him by a young lady staffer of the SCI.
People like me, who were disheartened by corruption under the de facto Government of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, saw a Messiah in Modi ji. But we feel lost when we find people of zero credibility like Manan Kumar elected — nay, nominated — to the Rajya Sabha, and people like Justice Arun Mishra, a great disgrace as a judge, appointed as the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission. The list is long. The common man is at a crossroads, because there is no alternative to the BJP.
The Congress is a family business, not a political party. The rest of the opposition parties are also no different — family enterprises. The CJP is just a movement. It may gather momentum and can win elections. But that is in the realm of speculation. It has no organisational structure, no leadership hierarchy, and we are not sure whether any external factors influence its leadership.
We therefore have no option other than the BJP, at least at the moment. And it is in the larger interest of the nation that Modi ji realise that he cannot take the people for granted. The people of this country expect the highest standard of ethical conduct in governance. Means are equally important as the ends. Indulging in horse-trading and defections is unethical and unacceptable to the common man.
