The Supreme Court of India has been hijacked by dynasties of lawyers and judges. What is the way out?
Mathews J Nedumpara98205 3542820th April 2026 The maximum strength of the Supreme Court is 34 judges. It operates for approximately 200 days a year; the remainder consists of vacations, holidays, and weekends. The court functions for roughly 4.5 hours a day. Of these working days, Mondays and Fridays are known as “Miscellaneous Days.” On these […]
Collegium is a nasty business, is a fraud on the Constitution and it must go.
Mathews J Nedumpara. Collegium is a nasty business, a synonym for nepotism and favouritism. It is not in the Constitution. The powerful lobby of dynasties of lawyers and judges invented it by rewriting the Constitution. Blood was proved to be thicker than water. Since 1993, that is exactly when Collegium was created by judicial legislation, […]
Why I discourage my clients from filing Writ petitions and instead advise them to institute civil suits?
Mathews J Nedumpara3rd April 202698205 35428. Why I discourage my clients from filing Writ petitions and instead advise them to institute civil suits? 3.You are advised to file an SLP in the Supreme Court. You have heard great things about the Supreme Court — the sentinel on the qui vive, namely the protector and guardian […]
Justice G.S.Patel:”Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”
Mathews J Nedumpara10th June 2026. The threat Justice G.S. Patel faces today to himself and his family members ought to be a matter of great concern not merely for the members of the bar and the bench, but for the public at large. However, there is hardly any such concern or sympathy I could see […]
The Supreme Court, which asserts jurisdiction over anything and everything under the sun, does not even spare the Supreme Court Bar Association; what is the remedy?
Mathews J Nedumpara98205 354288th June 2026. Our Constitution contemplates the legislature, executive and judiciary to be separate and independent wings of the State with the press as the fourth estate. The power of legislation is vested in the exclusive domain of the legislature. The record of a Parliament binds all, for we all as citizens […]

The Supreme Court, which dismisses the Writ Petitions/SLPs and Review Petitions of common citizens in hearings that last less than 93 seconds by one-line orders, has all the time to hear the fancy PILs of the rich and elite and those of Prashant Bhushan and Ashwani Upadhyay on issues which are not justiciable at all, but meant to gain political score! Should we allow this to continue and remain hapless spectators?
Mathews J Nedumpara4th June 2026. The Supreme Court, by dismissing Writ Petitions and SLPs of the common man by one-line, non-speaking orders, namely, “We are not inclined to admit the SLP/Writ Petition,” in a hearing which studies indicate does not last more than 93 seconds on an average, has rendered Article 32, which Dr. Ambedkar […]
Article 32, the very heart and soul of the Constitution, is dead. Is what remains a requiem?
Mathews J Nedumpara2nd June 2026 2.The bare facts are that the Petitioners in WP (L) no 18105/2026 before the Bombay High Court are in occupation of the shanties set up in the Bandra railway station at least since 1995. A statutory eligibility document, namely, Annexure II to the Garib Nagar Bandra East, prepared by the […]
Today’s (May 11, 2026) Supreme Court judgment on Ojha, President of the Gujarat High Court Advocates Association, proves once again that the bar is dead; only a requiem remains.
Mathews J nedumpara.11th May 2026 Sri. Ojha is a good friend of mine, and I am one of his well-wishers. But I am flabbergasted by the insult he has been made to invite on himself by Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Kapil Sibal, and others. Ojha, in a moment of emotional outburst, wrote something he ought not […]
